Our project is to create a photographic publication and blog focussing on the city of Derby that can be distributed and viewed throughout FORMAT11

Artist statement

Although a different city, we believe that Derby shares some similarities with Preston, particularly that it is not normally the focus for creative projects, and consequently this project can share the same ethos as our work in Preston.  Primarily this includes addressing subjects concerned with the everyday and perception of place; but also experience, social engagement, identity and the now.  The publication will then be distributed throughout the month of the festival in both locations associated with Format and other places within Derby and the surrounding area.

Artist bio

Preston is my Paris was originally started by Adam Murray and Robert Parkinson in July 2009 in order to encourage the exploration of Preston as a subject for creative practice and to generally focus more attention on the city.  What originally started as a free zine and blog has developed into a multi-faceted project that includes exhibitions, digital applications and live events.  Alongside this Preston is my Paris Publishing has been set up to produce limited edition, affordable, photography publications that although not explicitly focussed on Preston, share themes of the project.

This project is in collaboration with Jamie Hawkesworth.
