Artist Statement and Bio

Richard Kalvar has an exceptional eye and a talent for catching moments when societal behavior becomes humorous or shifts into the absurd. His compelling duotone photographs document the human condition. Kalvar seeksto emphasize the unusual, and his penetrating lens reveals a unique brand of humanity. He explores everyday life but with an altogether fresh perspective, at times funnier or darker. This work was produced from photographic “evidence” compiled on his travels from Rome to Paris, New York to Varsovie, and San Francisco to Tokyo.
