Join First Art for a special event at Creswell Crags to launch the Flâneur: New Urban Narratives season which includes exhibitions in Derby, Cathedral Green and Mansfield. Featuring the work of Liz Hingley, Discpula and Tom Hunter. This event gives you the chance to see additional work from each of the artists. 

Its is also the launch of The People's Portrait, a community-sourced exhibition of photography from people in the First Art area. 

This celebration event will see the caves at Creswell transformed with digital projections from Rebecca Smith of Urban Projections and a selection of other activities including performances from Pif-Paf Theatre, a photographic time machine, art activities and live music from a brass band. 


First Art is a Creative People and Places project funded by Arts Council England, working to bring great arts experiences to Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield and North East Derbyshire.

Creswell Crags is a limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and smaller fissures. Stone tools and remains of animals found in the caves by archaeologists provide evidence for a fascinating story of life during the last Ice Age between 50,000 and 10,000 years ago.
