W W Winter is the longest continually running photography business in Britain and possibly, the world. Founded in Derby in 1852, the business has been operating from its purpose built studio premises since 1867. The Derby studio’s vast archive now contains thousands of negatives and prints, as well as various objects and ephemera relating to the history and practice of the business. People, Places and Things draws on this archive to show how this striking and surprising collection forms an important record of the interwoven personalities, industries and changing landscapes of the city.

With longstanding and temporary exhibits, the Museum and Art Gallery boasts paintings and artefacts that are of both local and international significance.
