Still Moving is a photographic work by artist Joanna Callaghan in collaboration with choreographer Frauke Requardt. Shot on 35mm and 6x6 slide film and presented as a photographic installation, the work is presented in a variety of ways that borrow from early experiments in photographic movement. Through creating close relationships between on screen action, audience interaction in physical space and image presentation Still Moving explores motion and emotion through a narrative that uncovers the journey of three people through a powerful experience that shapes the environment around them. The work explores the relations between still and moving image questioning what makes a ‘moving’ image?
Bio
Joanna Callaghan is an artist and filmmaker. Her practice concerns the relation between perception, cognition and representation which she explores through narrative based film, video, and photography. Her work has been shown in galleries and festivals in London, Sydney, Milan, Seoul, Mexico City, Lisbon and Berlin.
