Remarks
Remarks is a project of film stills that draws on the inherent contradiction of a verbal reference to colour in monochromatic films. Dialogue provides information of something unavailable within the medium. The grey rendition of a colour is dictated by conditions external to itself; photographic grey is not and can never be indexical. We are left with images lost in translation: the moving image is translated to the still; sound is removed and translated to text; colour has been translated to monochrome; the cinematic is translated to photographic. Everything is a remark on something
other then what it is.
