Sylvia de Swaan
Sylvia de Swaan
Sub-Version Series explores issues of transience, loss, memory, personal identity and historical context. The images are taken with an analog camera then negatives scanned to create hi resolution digital files. Though the contents are not manipulated, the cross media potential of film and digital technology is explored. Sylvia is interested in the construction of narrative and how meaning is created or altered through juxtaposition and editing. In making the work she takes on the role of a film editor to format, sequence and to create small cinematic Haikus that speak of her personal concerns and the world we live in.
