FAKE DVD
Veronika Spierenburg’s work derives from her experience of the mass reproduction of western products in China. Veronika went about improving her knowledge of movies by buying the cheap, illegal copies of western films in the Beijing black market. The cheep copies are often badly recorded and begin to breakdown when watched, FAKE DVD demonstrates how, through the errors on the DVD, the fluidity of what you see is interrupted and reveals a puzzle of stacked frames.
Bio
Born in Switzerland in 1981, Swiss/Dutch artist Veronika Spierenburg studied at the School of Art in Basel, Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London. She received the Red Mansion Art Prize 2006 in London. She currently lives and works in Switzerland.
