Magnum in Motion is an interactive manifestation of the spirit of Magnum Photos. Commissioned by Magnum in 2005, In Motion assembles web-based photo essays, effectively integrating Magnum’s work into sphere of online photojournalism. Photo essays assume a unique communicative role, transforming the power of the single image and according Magnum photographers an additional creative mechanism and a multi-media platform. While some photo essays anthologise the work of a particular photographer, others are arranged thematically. Subjects range from current events to abstract works on art, culture, identity, and human geography.
