Olivier Metzger

There is a documentary impersonality to Olivier’s work; the details of the modern world, empty halls, buildings of glass and concrete, office accoutrements, and plant decoration make ordinary photographs. However the vision of Olivier lifts the ordinary and often overlooked items of modern life with a lyricism and universality, which is also anxious and sometimes uncomfortable. Throughout the entire show Olivier points out our inconsistencies: between the size of our dreams and our weakness as humans.

Based in Arles, he won the first prize in the ‘Festival Off’ at the Les Rencontres, the Arles International photography Festival in 2002.
