Trent Parke
Trent Parke is considered one of the most interesting
and challenging photographers of his generation. Dream/Life and Beyond is an ongoing document of
the streets of Sydney. Using photography to probe and question his surroundings, Parke reflects the fascination he has with everyday life. His images show a Sydney seemingly peopled with spirits and shrouded in the mythical, transforming the city through photography.

The play of light and shade, individuals and crowds, reality and dream, elevates these works beyond mere document. His book, Dream/Life, was awarded second place in the 2000 American Picture of the Year awards
for photography books.

Trent Parke was born and grew up in Newcastle, New South Wales. Today he is a Sydney based freelance photographer. He is the first Australian to become a Member of the renowned photographers' cooperative Magnum Photo Agency. He won the prestigious W Eugene Smith Award for humanistic photography in 2003 and World Press Photo Awards in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

This is his first solo exhibition in the UK.
